Summer 2017

Summer Reading for All Ages! – This year’s Summer Reading Program will begin in June and we have books and activities for all ages and all interests!  This year’s theme is “Build a Better World.”  For more information and to join our Summer Reading Programs, please stop by the library!

Family Events

Summer Reading Kick-Off Event – Creation Station – Saturday, June 25, 2017 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon – Sign up for the Summer Reading Program and then head over to the Creation Station.  Hands-on interactive event using a variety of unique building materials to spark creativity!

Pinto Bella Hula Hoop Program – Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 4:00 pm – Amazing hula hoop demonstration and interactive entertainment!  Drop-in and no registration required.  This free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Mashpee Library.

Mike the Bubble Man – Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 4:00 pm – The amazing magic and science of bubbles!  Drop-in and no registration required.  This free event is sponsored by the Mashpee Family and Community Engagement Grant.

4-H Coastal Explorer – Monday August 14, 2017 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm – All aboard the Coastal Explorer!  This 31-foot educational vehicle is equipped with hands-on science displays, activities, computer and aquariums.  All ages are invited to come and learn about coastal animals.  Drop-in and no registration required.  This free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Mashpee Library.

Magic by Scott Jameson – Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 6:30 pm – Extraordinary family performance full of magic, music and juggling!  Drop-in and no registration required.  This free event is sponsored by the Mashpee Cultural Council.

Summer 2017 Weekly Events

Mondays at 10:15  –  Toddle Time with Miss Rosemary –   Simple stories, songs and craft for toddlers age 2 to 4.  (July 10 through August 14)

Mondays at 11:15 – Lap Babies with Miss Rosemary – Songs, rhymes and simple stories for you and your “lap” baby up to 15 months.  (July 10 through August 14)

Mondays at 11:30 – Fun & Games and Free Lunch – Join us on the Village Green across the street from the library for games and free lunch.  (July 3 – August 21)               

Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 – LEGO Club  –  Join the LEGO fun!  The library supplies the LEGOs and you supply the creativity!  School age children welcome.  An adult must accompany children under the age of 10.  No registration required.

Wednesdays at 12:00 noon – Movie and Free Lunch – Join us  for a full-length feature film and free lunch in the cool, air-conditioned Event Room!  Participants are welcome to bring  their own lunch as well.  Check the Library Event Calendar for the movie title.  (July 5 through August 23)


For Teens and Tweens

Online Summer Reading Program for Grade 7 and up – Register for the online Summer Reading Program at  For each book review that you post, you will be entered into a random drawing to win a $100.00 gift card!  The more reviews you post, the greater your chances of winning!

4-H Babysitting Course – Registration Required – Monday and Tuesday, June 26 and 27, 2017 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm – You can become a certified babysitter at the library!  Participants must be 11 years old or older and you must attend both days.  To become a responsible babysitter you will learn about: child safety, first aid and emergencies, stages of child development, discipline, entertaining, and the business of babysitting.  The class will be instructed by a 4-H Program Associate and certificates and I.D. cards will be issued upon successful completion of the course.  The 4-H Babysitting Course is free, however, space is limited and registration is required.  To register call 508-539-1435 X 3001 or email

Make Your Own Magic Tricks Workshop – Registration Required – Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 4:00 pm – Learn how to make and perform some astounding magic tricks!  For ages 8 and up.  To register call 508-539-1435 X 3001 or email
