Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 10:30 am – Pitter Patter Puppet Show – Mary Wilson’s wildly popular puppetry performance includes hands-on interactive participation to encourage early literacy skills.  Silly songs, storytelling, and rhymes are all part of the show!  Great family fun for all ages!  This free event is sponsored by The Mashpee Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Grant .

Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm – It’s the Library’s 7th Birthday!  – We’re throwing a party and everyone is invited to join us for cupcakes, prizes and The Selander Mini Golf Open in the library!  This free day of fun is provided courtesy of the Friends of the Mashpee Library and through the generous sponsorship of many local businesses and merchants.  Fun for the whole family!

Friday, April 21, 2017 at 2:00 pm – Popcorn and a Movie! – Get ready to enjoy the big screen and sound system at the library as we will be showing the movie, Moana, an animated Disney adventure about a Polynesian island chief’s daughter who sets off on a quest to save her people.  With Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson voicing demigod Maui and a score that features original music by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, the movie should appeal to viewers of all ages.  Bring a comfy pillow and watch the family fun.  This movie is rated PG and recommended for age 6 and up. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the film.  Running time is 113 minutes.

Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 10:30 am – Saturday Family Story Time – Dinosaurs galore!  All ages are invited to join us for dinosaur stories, songs and a craft.

Family Science Program with Miss Lynne – Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:30 am – All About Birds – What makes a bird a bird?  What is the largest bird?  What is the smallest bird?  Learn the answers and more about these feathered creatures.  This is great family fun with hands-on activities for children age 3 and up. This free event is sponsored by The Mashpee Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Grant.

Weekly Events – Spring Session of Story Times Ends June 14, 2017

Mondays at 10:15 and 11:15 –  Toddle Time with Miss Rosemary –   Simple stories, songs and craft for toddlers age 2 to 4.

Wednesdays at 10:15 am – Tiny Tots with Miss Nancy – A “Play & Learn” drop-in program especially for tiny ones age 15 to 24 months.  You and your tiny tot are invited to join us for stories, movement, songs and playtime.

Wednesdays at 11:30 – Lap Babies with Miss Rosemary – Songs, rhymes and simple stories for you and your “lap” baby up to 15 months.

No story times during school vacation weeks or snow days.

Every Tuesday from 4:30 to 5:30 – LEGO Club  –  Join the LEGO fun!  The library supplies the LEGOs and you supply the creativity!  School age children welcome.  An adult must accompany children under the age of 10.  No registration required.

For Teens and Tweens

Calling all fourth through sixth graders who enjoy reading new books… Join  the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award (MCBA) Book Club at the Mashpee Public Library! Salem State University founded the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award in 1975.  Every year there are 25 nominated titles of recently published books, and children in grades 4 to 6 must read at least 5 titles in order to be eligible to vote for their favorite book.

We will meet once a month on Thursdays.   Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 4:30 to 5:30.
