Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon – StoryWalk – Look Both Ways: A Cautionary Tale – Discover this delightful story page-by-page as you walk around the outside of the library.  Then join us for soccer themed craft activities.  There will be a free soccer ball for each family while supplies last!


Tuesday, October 31, 2017 from 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm – Trick or Treat for Books – Visit the library in your costume on Halloween Day and Trick-or-Treat for Books! Trick or Treat! Books are neat! Stop by the children’s room anytime and we will have books available for all ages—preschool, school-age, tweens, and teens.


Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm – Popcorn and a Movie! – It’s an “Early Release Day” from school so get ready to enjoy the big screen and sound system at the library!  We will be showing Cars 3, which follows famous race car Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) as he transitions from the peak of his career to dealing with younger, faster, higher-tech rivals.  This movie is rated G and recommended for age 6 and up.  Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the film.  Running time is 109 minutes.

Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 10:30 am – Family Story Time – Gingerbread story time starring Ginger Bear!  Stories, songs and craft.  Fun for all ages!

Weekly Events

Mondays at 10:15 and 11:15  –  Toddle Time with Miss Rosemary –   Simple stories, songs and craft for toddlers age 2 to 4.  Drop-in.  (Fall session begins September 11)

Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 – LEGO Club  –  Join the LEGO fun!  The library supplies the LEGOs and you supply the creativity!  School age children welcome.  An adult must accompany children under the age of 10.  No registration required.

Wednesdays at 10:15 – Tiny Tots with Miss Nancy – Interactive playgroup for 15 to 24 month olds with songs, fingerplays and stories that encourage social skills and vocabulary.  Drop-in.  (Fall session begins September 13)

Wednesdays at 11:30 – Lap Babies with Miss Rosemary – Songs, rhymes and simple stories for you and your “lap” baby up to 15 months.  Drop-in.  (Fall session begins September 13)

For Teens and Tweens

Calling all fourth through sixth graders who enjoy reading new books!  It’s that time of year again… time to start the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award (MCBA) Book Club at the Mashpee Public Library.  Salem State University founded the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award in 1975.  Every year there are 25 nominated titles of recently published books, and children in grades 4 to 6 must read at least 5 titles in order to be eligible to vote for their favorite book.

We will meet once a month on Thursdays from October to March, and our voting Pizza Party will be held in March.    We will have all of the nominated titles available for browsing and also the first book for book club will be ready to check out.  Come and join us – there will be cupcakes!
