Meet Holly Cleeland, author of Glue & Go Costumes for Kids: Super-Duper Designs with Everyday Materials and learn how to make prize-winning costumes with easy-to-find materials, such as plastic cups, cardboard boxes, and fabric. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 2:00 pm – Popcorn and a Movie! – Get ready to enjoy the big screen and sound system at the library as we will be showing The Angry Birds Movie. This animated adaptation of the hugely popular video-game series follows three avian friends as they put their anger to good use by fighting back against a hostile force. Bring a comfy pillow and watch the family fun. This movie is rated PG and recommended for age 7 and up. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the film. Running time is 97 minutes.
Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 3:00 pm – Halloween Safety Magic Show – Tommy James presents a SPOOKTACULAR show for BOYS and GHOULS of all ages! It’s a Halloween Magic Show with safety tips blended in to help keep children safe on their night of spooky fun! This FREE event is sponsored by The Friends of the Mashpee Library.
Mondays at 10:15 and 11:15 – Toddle Time with Miss Rosemary – Simple stories, songs and craft for toddlers age 2 to 4.
Wednesdays at 11:30 – Lap Babies with Miss Rosemary – Songs, rhymes and simple stories for you and your “lap” baby up to 15 months.
No story times during school vacation weeks or snow days.
Every Tuesday from 4:30 to 5:30 – LEGO Club – Join the LEGO fun! The library supplies the LEGOs and you supply the creativity! School age children welcome. An adult must accompany children under the age of 10. No registration required.
For Teens and Tweens
Calling all fourth through sixth graders who enjoy reading new books… Join the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award (MCBA) Book Club at the Mashpee Public Library! Salem State University founded the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award in 1975. Every year there are 25 nominated titles of recently published books, and children in grades 4 to 6 must read at least 5 titles in order to be eligible to vote for their favorite book.
We will meet once a month on Thursdays from September to March, and our voting Pizza Party will be held in March. Our first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 4:30 to 5:30. On that day we will have all of the nominated titles available for browsing and also the first book for book club will be ready to check out. Come and join us – there will be cupcakes!
