Tuesday, January 17, 2012:  Cape Cod Health Care Blood Drive 10:00 -4:00 Mashpee Public Library, 64 Steeple Street, Mashpee.  Blood stays on the cape for use at Falmouth and Cape Cod Hospitals.

Call Blood Donor Recruitment Center at Cape Cod Hospital 508-862-5273 Monday through Friday 8:00-5:00 to schedule an appointment or leave message after hours.

Sign up sheets also available at Library desk. Appointments are scheduled every 15 minutes. Walk-ins are welcome.  Snacks and prizes provided.

Village Crafters Artisans’ Holiday Fair – Thursday, December 1, 2011 1-6 pm

25 Cape Cod artists, unique handmade items, bring your gift list.

 

Special Author Event – Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 7:00 PM

Chip Bishop author of “The Lion and the Journalist: The unlikely friendship of Theodore Roosevelt and Joseph Bucklin Bishop.” This is Mr. Bishop’s first book, released this month,  which describes the friendship of his journalist great-granduncle Joseph Bucklin Bishop with President  Teddy Roosevelt and all the complexities of politics, power and courage during his administration.  Admission is free. Books will be available to purchase for signing.

Thursday, Sept. 15th -  Volunteer Appreciation and Friends’ Annual Meeting , 7pm EventsRoom

The Friends will host a Volunteer Appreciation dessert buffet at 7 pm in the Library Events Room honoring the hard work of the many volunteers that have made the new library such a valuable resource to the community since its opening in Spring 2010. Barbara Notarius, outgoing President, will present her annual report describing supporting activities of the Friends of the Mashpee Library during  the past year. Long-time Friends and book sale committee chairs Alice Borden and Ed DeFoe will be presented with life-time achievement awards for their many hours of hard work each year making these big fund-raising events possible.

Saturday August 13th – Artisans’ Fair and Biggest Book Sale of the Summer – from 10AM to 4PM.  The Artisans from the Village Crafters will be set up all around the library grounds.  Village Crafters feature jewelry, painted note cards, photographic art, glass wind chimes and cutting boards, knitwear, folk art  painting, doll and American Girl doll clothes and  handbags and brownie. Polar Cave will provide ice cream and  hot dogs. Andy’s Market is supplying ice cold water and soda.

Friday, Saturday, Monday August 12th, 13th, 15th Mammoth Three-Day Book Sale Biggest Book Sale of the year will take place in the Events Room on Friday, Saturday and Monday, August 12th, 13th, and 15th from 10am to 4pm.  Adult fiction, nonfiction, childrens, cooking, health, wellness, exercise, gardening, pet care, music, art, drawing, photography, sports, travel; CDs and DVDs.  Saturday in coordination with Artisans’ Fair.  Monday special prices and Buck-a-Book!

Saturday, July 16th – In conjunction with the Community Harry Potter Event planned by the Children’s Museum, we will have a book sale in the Conference Room from 9AM to 1PM on Saturday.  There will be events taking place on the Green, throughout Mashpee Commons and South Cape Village.

Saturday July 9th at 11 AM in the Events Room – Cynthia Riggs, Mystery Writer from Martha’s Vineyard takes the stage at the second of our 2011 Authors’ Series.  Tickets are $8 and available June 1st at the library and the Market Street Bookshop in Mashpee Commons.  This series is dedicated to former Trustee, Dianna Smith, who adored murder mysteries and  died in 2010.

Bee Balm Murders, Cynthia’s 10th mystery, is in bookstores now. Her amateur sleuth heroine, Victoria Trumbull, is a 92 year old poet.

“Cynthia Riggs, Lynn Christoffers, and Stephen Wesley are working on a new book titled Victoria Trumbull’s Martha’s Vineyard, to be published by Cleaveland House Books, late spring 2011. Stunning photos by Lynn Christoffers, great maps by Stephen (Step) Wesley, and an insider’s text by Cynthia Riggs. A guidebook to accompany the Martha’s Vineyard Mystery Series featuring 92-year-old poet Victoria Trumbull.”

Book signing will take place at the conclusion of her talk.  Light refreshments will be served.
